This course is suitable for you if you are new to your role in management or supervisory management or if you wish to gain this valuable qualification and find a job in this sector.
To commence this course, ideally you will have achieved Junior / Leaving Certificate standard or appropriate FETAC/QQI Qualification or equivalent. Mature Applicants with relevant life and work experience are welcomed. Where deemed appropriate you may have to complete an English Language Proficiency Test.

What You’ll Learn
Through this porgramme you will discover how to;
- Explain the key terminology associated with the recording and maintenance of bookkeeping records, using manual and computerised systems
- Outline the advantages and disadvantages of a computerised system over a manual one for record keeping purposes
- Complete the books of first entry with appropriate VAT and departmental analysis from the information contained in a range of source documents to include; invoices, credit notes, bank records, petty cash vouchers
- Post the information from the daybooks to the appropriate accounts in the ledgers
- Extract a trial balance at the end of an accounting period
- Prepare a Bank Reconciliation Statement from data supplied
- Prepare the end-of-period VAT Return in accordance with the requirements of the Revenue Commissioners
- Process all tasks as per the manual ones using an accounts package, comparing manual and computerised results
- Analyse tasks completed making appropriate corrections to any errors and editing of data as directed
- Print a selection of reports after backing up computerised data on a suitable medium.

Assessment
The course 5N1354 Bookkeeping Manual and Computerised assessed in the following ways, with the following weighting;
- Project 50%
- Examination Practical 50%.
Project 50%;
A project is a individual to a brief with guidelines, that will be given to you on the first session of your course. They are carried out over a period of time. Projects involve: research – requiring individual investigation of a topic related to your course.
Examination Practical 50%;
An examination will assess your ability to recall and apply skills, knowledge and understanding within a set period of time (time constrained) and under examination conditions. This will be a written examination of 2 hours duration.
Grading
Pass 50% – 64%
Merit 65% – 70%
Distinction 80% – 100%

Easy Payment Plan
All our learning courses can be paid for over the duration of the course. In this case the course booking fee is €95 payable in advance.
To calculate your weekly payment subtract the booking deposit of €95 from the course fee, then simply divide the remaining course fee by 50 and then this is the number of weekly installments you will have to pay your tutor at the beginning of each session / a phoned in payment / an arranged bank payment / weekly payment on-line. There will be an amount of less than €50 as your final payment.

Full course fee: €360
Subtract €95 = €265
Divide €265 by 50 = 5.3
Payment week 1 = €50
Payment week 2 = €50
